Inspiration equals creation

I spotted this card via pininterest and that someone had put on it create with CTMH and I had to look closer at the original to confirm that it was not already CTMH stamps.  Since it was not, the challenge was on for me to recreate this card using Close to my Heart products. :)

Now here is my version, lots of fun to create:

Thankful that I have a good collection of stamps to choose from to create this.  I only used cardstock and three colours of inks, cocoa, chocolate and bamboo.  Five different stamps sets, Glory to God, Everlasting life, Holiday trinkets, Holiday wishes and Canadian celebration.  I also used our exclusive Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the ticket shapes at 1 1/2 inches for the base to my images, so nice to easily cut out the shape needed for my card.

H2H colour challenge

On the H2H blog this week past this was the challenge:   Now on to the challenge. We have a color challenge for you this week. The colors are Autumn Terracotta, Juniper and Bamboo:

An interesting colour combination that I would not have thought to use before this, but I am really surprised by how great this looks, here is my card:

Products used are all Close to my Heart, I feature cut out shapes from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge with the co-ordinating stamp sets.  The background paper is from old paper pack I think it was called "game on" and I used a strip of black cardstock as the border/ribbon.  (Found the name of the paper from my Studio J app.)

What do you need to start...?

When I introduce someone new to Close to my Heart products, I am always asked what do I need to start?

My first suggestion is to pick a stamp set or paper pack that they like, then we choose a few ink colours that they like, so they can get started.  Of course, with the stamp set we pick the blocks that will be needed to use this stamp set and include those.  I think for a first time creator a Workshop on the go is an excellent way to get started, the paper is picked a stamp set is included and some embellishments.  All they need to add are the blocks and inks.  The current catalogue has eight work shop on the go to choose from, that hardest part is picking your favourite :)

The workshops to go in the current catalogue are:
 Believe
 Dreamin'
 Elemental
 Mischief
 Roxie
 Sonoma
 Wonderland
Typeset

If you have been following my blog you will recognize the Typeset layout as one that I scrap-lifted.  Each kit comes with a paperpack of 6 - 12" x 12" B&T duos (2 of each double-sided design) and 6 co-ordinating sheets of card stock, as well as a exclusive stamp set and embellishments.
Check the link for the online catalogue for more information.

H2H It's all in the numbers!

It is all in the numbers :)  this weeks challenge is to use numbers in our project, our youngest grand daughter turned 3 this week and needed a card...
I used the "Close to my Heart" bohemian alpha stamp set, the "It's your day" stamp set for the cake with crystal blue, chocolate and barn red inks.  The paper is from the Sarsaparailla paper pack.  This is a open gate card that I was inspired to create after seeing the card project a Close to my Heart consultant was doing at Scrapfest in Oshawa last weekend.  A fun card to make and give, even if she doesn't want to be three yet :)

I have been awarded a award :)

This is a first for me, I have been given as award for my blog and here I was wondering if anyone was actually looking at this.  Especially when I do not post to it regularly.  Thank you, Krista, I am honoured.  I do enjoy scrapping heritage photos, although it seems weird callling the photos of my children heritage, but they are all adults now and I am still trying to "catch up" with the scrapbooking.  I also scrap old family photos from my heritage as well, nice to have a place to record the family history and stories to share with future generations.

This is a different kind of blog award in the respect that it recognizes inspiring blogs with less than 200 followers. This way some very worthy, but often over looked blogs benefit from some extra exposure...which is something every blogger can use! And who doesn't like an award?

Liebster is the German word for "beloved" or "favourite". So it is now my turn to bestow this award to 5 of my most beloved blogs who have less than 200 followers. So be sure to check out the blogs listed below and congratulate them by leaving them some blog love in the form of a comment and becoming a Follower if you find them to be as inspiring as I do!

Now to award this award to five of the blogs I follow that I enjoy.......

The first goes to Tina Crocker the friendly lady at the Rona store in Newcastle, if you check her blog she makes awesome cards and likes a lot of the same things I do. http://tinacrocker.blogspot.com/

The second goes to Carla Create another Close to my Heart consultant, I like seeing ideas for using the products.  http://carlacreates.blogspot.com/

Third, this is hard to find blogs that do not have alot of followers,
Michelle Nist another consultant has a great blog featuring Studio J layouts you can find it here:  http://yourdigitalpages.blogspot.com

Fourth - http://nicolescrapsandstamps.blogspot.com/ anther consultant for Close to my heart, great inspiration, love the pumpkins :)

and last but not least a blog I found searching through my blog list and following other links and this one came up....  http://girlpluspaper.blogspot.com/

H2H76 challenge

This weeks H2H76 challenge is using a sketch, this is my version of the sketch:

I used the Roxy plaid paper with the smoothie cardstock and a unknown brown twill ribbon, the scalloped circle is cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and stamped with one of the stamps included with the cartridge.  A very simple but effective card.  The challenge can be found on this blog http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/10/welcome-to-october.html

Family layout using Mayberry

Hi all, here is a layout I did at a gathering a few months back that I love.  The gathering was hosted by a friend of mine and I was a guest, so that was great for me to learn new ideas and techniques. (Thank you Krista)

Another heritage page

Continuing the theme of using some of my heritage photos, here is another page....

I made my own decorator paper using colonial white for the background and the stamps from the Lucky workshop to go in the last catalogue and Sweet Leaf and Crystal blue inks.  These are more photos from my fathers family on his mothers side.

Heritage pages

I have been working on scanning old family photos and gathering family tree information for a number of years.  Now it is time to scrap the photos and put it all together.  First step get the photos on the pages, I still need to finish the journalling, but that will come.  I used a old level one Silhoute paper pack along with the stickers all from Close to my Heart.
This is a collection of family photos from my Dad's family from before and after they immigrated to Canada in 1952 from Holland.

Happy Halloween

Another favourite layout from my weekend away scrapping, very simple layout, one sheet of cardstock, a great Close to my Heart stamp set (unfortunately discontinued) and liquid glass.  Another very fun to  play on layout.

Typeset two

This is another layout that I made using the typeset workshop to go set, again I altered the suggested layout, but had a lot of fun.  Childhood photos bring back so many memories,no matter how old the photos may be :)   I choose to not combine both of the pages together in one layout but made two individual pages, the second one is below.

Typeset layout

Just returned from a weekend away with daughter and friends scrapping.  Had a great time!  Got lots done, even better.  Thought I would share my favourite layout from this weekend, using the typeset paper pack and the Workshop to go kit.
I am working on attemping to get my childhood and our family photos scrapped, sometimes seems like a never ending challenge, but it is so satisfying to have some finished.  This set and layout was so fun to work on using the kit and the new Art Philosophy cricut cartridge, that was very useful during our crop.  I hope to post more in the coming days as time permits.

a birthday card

This is a card that I made earlier this month using the fanfare paper pack and stickers for the banner.  I also used the stamps from the Typeset workshop to go, all from Close to my Heart.  I used a challenge to give me the ideas for my hubbies birthday card, but did not get around to posting it for the challenge.

Studio J from Close to my Heart

I never thought I would get satisfaction from digital scrapbooking.  I love working with computers, when they work, but they can be very frustrating to learn something new on.  So it was with some hesitation that I signed up for a membership to a year of digital scrapbooking with Studio J from Close to my Heart.  I wish now I had more time to play on it!  I love the results and the many options that you have since it is all online and you can make changes and on and on.... lots of videos on youtube for ideas and tips on using the program that is SUPER EASY to use.  So without further chatter I thought I would share a few of my most recent layouts, I make them, order them and they are printed in exceptional quality with page protectors for my albums.  I also get the jpg files to keep for future projects.
and last but not least some shots I took of the storm clouds from two separate storms and the two double rainbows we had on August 21 here in Ontario.

August Stamp of the Month

Wow, August already is a week old! I am behind and have been absent, I am sorry, too many things to do and too little time, the usual story for everyone.  So without further ado, here is my card using the Close to my Heart August stamp of the month "Wicked".

I just love this stamp set, it has tons of possibilities, the lady, is actually a witch, that I stategically cut to make a classy lady, dispite the striped socks :).  This is a birthday card for someone in the future.  The background uses the background stamp that comes with the set as well.  I blocked out the wording between the brackets to replace it with the Hats off to you.  You can find out more about this stamp set on my web site link to Close to my heart.  Enjoy and have a great day, I hope to do a few more updates this week.

Canadian Celebration stamp of the month

The July stamp of the month Canadian Celebration is so much fun, I particularly like the large stars.  This is the card I made with two stars that I stamped and cut out, I also used paper from the fanfare level two paper pack.  The stamp set is very versitile, it even has a Canadian flag, not easy to find.  Here is a picture of some other art work that has been done with this stamp set from the company.

Challenges :)

I enjoy finding and doing challenges, this is the first time that I am using one card for more than two challenges.  This card is a card for friends anniversary and fills the need to three different challenges, if I can remember them correctly.  H2H - Here comes the bride - earlier in June, OLW 59 using a photo for inspiration, gave me the colours and my first time in Less is More using Monogram.   Seems I am a bit behind for the monogram one, like a few weeks, but it was good for the inspiration.
Recipe:
All Close to my Heart - stamp sets - Friendship alphabet and smiles for the flowers, Ink colours grey wool, pear, sweet leaf, sunny yellow and creme brulee.  Enjoy.
