Dragonfly wings.....

A different post, KNITTING!!! I have been knitting for the last few years regularly and really enjoying it. Our local yarn shop hosts a knit nite every other week on Wednesdays, where we meet to knit, chat and meet new people! We also support a KIVA fund as part of our evenings. This new group of friends also has a private facebook page where we encourage each other in our knitting and lives. I am very thankful for this group of friends, they supply many laughs and much joy. A few of the younger mothers there are also getting creative outside of their comfort Amanda has started to dye her own yarn. She started with socks
Yup, they are pencil socks, how cool is this?? The yarn is self striping with stategically placed colour changes. Socks take me a l...o....n...g time to knit, such fine needles and yarn, but I am loving the effect. Starting the heels now :)

Another yarn that she dyed is merino and silk, in a wine colour, she named ' quit yurt wining'. I choose this yarn to knit a project that has been on my wish list for awhile 'dragonfly wings'.

I even added a few beads in the border :)

The snow has to be useful for something, so thought I would get the photos before it disappears in the next few weeks (I hope). I know I have some spots of light on my photo, but I have been playing with inks and paper to get this effect and find it humourous that it has shown up unintended in my photo ;)

I realized on Facebook last night that I completely missed a posting about a team challenge from Simply Creating team at Close to my Heart. So since is the deadline and tomorrow is the deadline for the sketch that I am using, I should get this posted.

This weeks sketch at the Atlantic hearts challenge they are at sketch 96 already!! We are challenged to use this sketch:

And since I love combining challenges, I am using the colour challenge from color my heart color dare to use .

This is what I created, a birthday card to add to my stash....

All supplies used are Close to my Heart, if you are interested in getting any of these to add to YOUR stash, just check out the shopping cart on the right. Stamp sets used D1602 A budding friendship, D1605 Happy to be friends, and D1627 Your own kind of wonderful for the small flower in olive ink.

colour my heart colour dare #129

My week became busier than I thought it would but that is ok. Started our 'playing' with a friend with a new to us technique 'Bokeh', this is one of the creations using this technique and this weeks colours; white daisy, cranberry, crystal blue, hollyhock, lagoon & whisper.

This is what I came up with and one of my favourites using this technique, I will be doing more of this in the future.....

I left the sentiment area at the bottom or even on top of the inking blank so that I can add it when I need to use this card. All supplies used are Close to My Heart.

If you came from Dominique of fun 2 cre8 then you are in the right place!

I had fun coming up with various cards for this blog hop, browsing my Originals and Wishes idea books for cards. Lots of creative ideas. I used both books for this blog hop. First up:

A thinking of you card using the sketch 'Winning combination' from the originals book on pg. 99. I used the hostess stamp set C1606 A thing well done and the sentiment is from A1146 Sincere Expressions.

Next up my Birthday card for my now teenage grandson, using the stamp set from the Hopscotch Scrapbooking kit. Just shows you that you can use the stamps from scrapbooking kits for other items. This kit is only available until the end of March from our seasonal expressions catalogue.

This card used the sketch from the Wishes card creations book pg 72, I rotated the design. You don't always have to play by the rules, rotating a design is a great way of coming up with something new.

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Krista of simply creating.
If you get lost along the way, you can head to Michelle S Blog,, as she has the complete blog list.
