Atlantic Hearts Sketch #44

More Skylark creating.....This week on the Atlantic hearts challenge we are challenged to use this sketch:

Since I had a free, all to myself evening at home, I spent some time creating.  Sadly most of it was for sympathy cards that I want to send out.  So taking the sketch and one of my new favourites, from this idea book the Skylark paper pack, along with my brand new Close to my Heart Damask embossing folder, is my creation:
I let the patterned paper speak for itself, added a strip of embossed lagoon card stock with a sentiment and the border is one or our retired kraft borders.  The flowers are resin from the Skylark assortment Z3000, so easy to use and it makes it so quick and easy to make a great card.  I hope this helps to inspire you to spend some time creating, you can share your sketch challenge on the Atlantic Hearts blog until Sunday evening, I hope to see some of you there.

I am a GUEST DESIGNER this week at Color my Heart challenge #83

I am honoured to be the guest designer along with the regular weekly designers this week on the design team.  This week we are challenged to use the colours in the 'Skylark' paper pack:

Such pretty papers and colours, I just had to order the Workshop on the Go Scrapbooking kit G1072 as it has a dragon fly stamp in it.  Then as I got looking in my supplies, I realized that I also have the Picture my Life kit with this paper pack too, time to get working on some projects.  So today I have created a card using the sketch from the Card maker magazine, that I spotted last night on Facebook and have been thinking about today....wanting to play with my brand new Close to my Heart embossing folders....

This is my creation with the sketch rotated:

I used the paper pack and the stamp set from the Workshop on the go, the sentiment is from the D1476 Card Chatter Sympathy set, stamped in pacifica ink. I embossed two pieces of lagoon cardstock in the new damask embossing folder Z1927, then sponged the embossing and edges with sweet leaf ink.  All the edges of the papers are sponged in either lagoon or sweet leaf inks.  The dragonflies use the rock 'n' roll technique for stamping, one of my favourite techniques.  You stamp your image in the one colour then just roll the edges of the stamp in a second colour.  Make sure you wipe the edges of your block and stamp, a different creation each time.  The little bird is from the Skylark assortment Z3000 with little birds and three sizes of flowers.
This is the inside of the card using various sentiments from the Words of Comfort stamp set C1524, I carried the same colour theme through to the inside.  The small dragonfly is from the new Petite Perks W2028 Delicate Wings, one of my favourites.
Watch my blog for a few more Skylark creations....coming soon.

Color my Heart and Atlantic Sketch challenges this week...

A new card to fill a few challenges that have inspired me to get creative....that and having two of my grand daughters wanting to make cards ;)
On the Color my heart color dare the challenge is to use Goldrush and Topiary, not two colours that I would usually combine, but I am quite pleased with the result.
The sketch at this weeks Atlantic hearts challenge called out to me to be a one layer card, but I did add a layer of a border paper.  This is the sketch:

And this is the card I created, you can never have too many Birthday cards on hand to brighten someones day.

Supplies used:
Love Doily B1418
Hello Tweety B1420 (retired)
You and Me D1495 (retired)
Joyful Birthday B1419
You have the rest of the week to join in the Color my Heart dare and only one more day for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge.  Join us and play along.

a trio of challenges....

Hi all, got looking at my calendar for the coming week and realized that oops I had a few people with special significant birthdays coming up!  Guess I need to make a few cards :)

So as usual I will use a few or three challenges to help me make these two cards.
The first is the sketch from atlantic hearts challenge sketch #41 already.

Then the first colour challenge from color my heart color dare #80 to use these colours:
Ruby, Sunset and Cotton Candy a pretty combination for a pretty card:
I played with a few of my border punches and the stamp set from the new 'Ivy Lane' card workshop.

For my next card I used the color throw down #278 to use these colours: which I translated into Close to my Heart colours: pear, blush, white, ruby and desert sand.

Sorry the desert sand blends in quite a bit with my table, but I really enjoyed making the flower by cutting some ruby and blush cardstock with my spellbinders peany die in my cuttlebug.  The dragonfly and butterfly are from the new mini set.  Glad I remembered to make these and took the time to both make them and share them.  Until next time.

When I saw this layout in the new idea book,
I HAD to order all that I needed to do this layout.....
(accept the stamp set :()

I had a grand child try to "help" with my layout while I was out of my scrap room, so I had to add a few more pieces of paper.  This is the new 'Ariana' paper pack, the colours in it are gorgeous with three new cardstocks that only come with this paper pack.  This helps us stay on trend with the new colours and lets us play with them too.  I was having so much fun playing that I also decided to make a mini-album for my Mom's 75th birthday... this is the cover using the 'Ariana' paper pack and our Artbooking cartridge.

Your next stop on the Team Braer Hop is Michelle Hughes of therighthugh.
