Since this weekend is Father's Day I thought I would share a layout I just finished for the Close to my Heart convention in Dallas next month. Each consultant that is attending was given a free five pack of Studio J layouts to use, along with very detailed instructions that covered a lot of different techniques. It was a bit of a struggle at times to get it to work, but when it all clicked together it was amazing what all you could do with this software. Trying to think of which photos to use for the layouts was interesting too, challenged the thinking cap of different themes etc.
I remembered having these old photos scanned and that I had not used them yet, so what better way to scrap and remember them than by Studio J. This way if any of my siblings would like their own copy of the layout, I can just order it, instead of having to recreate it. Another great reason to use Studio J, especially when you are doing heritage photos that other family members may like too.
For this layout we were instructed to use the Lucky paper pack with the Portrait Collection layout. I choose to rotate the right hand page and made up photo collections with two photos in each photo spot. This works well for older photos that may not have the resolution you would like for larger prints.
I really enjoyed this mini course in using Studio J, it helped me to learn and understand the different and varied options you can use the program for. If you are just starting out digital scrapbooking you can try it for free, go to Studioj.com and click on start creating,then upload some photos, pick your paper, layout and it will step you through the finished layout. If you want more of a creative challenge you can play with changing the paper, accents, colours, embellishments, stitching... lots of fun things to learn and do. Of course if you purchase a membership you get access to even more paper packs and layouts, plus a cheaper price for printing your finished layouts. The layouts are printed in beautiful colour on heavy weight photo paper and shipped with page protectors, so all you have to do is slip then into your albums.
